Welcome to the Allred's Motorsport home page
. . . I've always been fascinated and drawn to machines, it seems . . .
From toy cars in the 50's, to home built carts and first sports cars in the 60's, I moved on to sanctioned go-kart racing, eventually off road motorcycles in the 70's. Aviation and flying light airplanes took over my motorized interest in the 80's. I slowed down a bit with an interest in restoring antique farm tractors in the early 90's followed by a complete change of pace in the form of clay target shotgun sports through '97. It was then that my early interest in sports cars, and friendly competition returned to center stage, innocently, at first, in the form of a used, but clean, low mileage Miata.
A month or two of enjoying the nimble handling of the Miata soon led to a return to autocross events, now called Solo-2, with the Utah Region of SCCA. These events are easy to enter, low cost, and great fun. Soon my wife, Syd was entering them too! Those Solo events led to road racing in a Spec Rx-7 and vintage Lotus demo drives for the Utah Lotus Museum during the 2001 season.

Next season promises to be just as rewarding with the addition of a Crossle 32 Formula Ford for SCCA Club Racing, and an enhanced schedule of demo drives in both Solo and IVR ( Intermountain Vintage Racing) events with selected examples of the museum's Lotus collection.

uch of my interest in motorports, particularly Lotus sports cars and formula road racing, dates back to a childhood fascination with the career of two time World Driving Champion, Jim Clark, and the Lotus racing cars developed by Colin Chapman for him to drive. It has been over 30 years since Clark's untimely death. But his sportsmanship and talent left a lasting impression upon me. From the days when I bicycled to the store for the latest magazine reviews, until the present, as I participate in a manner appropriate to my humble talent and means, I am grateful for the lasting motorsports inspiration. Thanks Jim!
