* 2nd in qualifying, broken clutch throw out lever at start grid!
There are no SCCA approved road race tracks in Utah. The closest racing is a long tow over the mountains, east or west. Accordingly, the events entered for the season were fewer than hoped for.
Thanks to MJB, for capable crew support, making the August races much less stressful!
The Elise Motorsport ... a driver's delight!
|
March through October a variety of monthly grass roots events. Test and tune days, a driver's school, demonstration laps, as well as time trials and wheel to wheel competition. All in an enjoyable variety of machinery including the Allred's Motorsport Crossle' 32 Formula Ford, as well as a 1959 Lotus Elite Type 14, Lotus Elise Motorsport 190, and Caterham Super Sprint, courtesy of the Utah Lotus Museum. Thanks also to MJB and Team Fat for the chance to flog Killer, and the Racing Spit around the track too!
Caterham Super Sprint ... the definitive sports car.
|
Straight forward, close to home, and most accessible, with events every two weeks on average, from March though October. Allred's Motorsport entered either the Caterham Super Sprint, or the Elise on behalf of the Utah Lotus Museum in ten solo events during 2001. Not many competitors locally in D-Mod or ASP, so end of season first place in class trophy & recognition a bit overstated, perhaps. However, many good times, valuable experiences, in high performance cars, amongst good people!
